Cameron Saaiman remains undefeated as he shows all his skill out pointing Mana Martinez over three rounds at UFC 285.
Round 1
Cameron Saaiman seems weary of the early power Mana Martinez possesses as he uses kicks to remain at distance. Mana lands a nice combination to the body but Saaiman shakes it off. Saaiman continues to do a great job of getting in and out.
An early leg kick seems to have an impact on Saaiman who has stumbled three times in the first half of round one. An inadvertent low blow to Martinez halts the action. Not long after the restart it happens again. Saaiman loses one point.
The point deduction seems to have lit a fire under Saaiman who presses the pace and lands multiple strikes as the round concludes.
Round 2
The kicks continue into the second and Cameron doesn’t discriminate. Targeted all three levels landing to the head, body and leg. Martinez continues to find success with his hands but the speed of his opponent makes it hard to land multiple blows.
The pace picks up even more and both men are trading heavy leather. Saaiman lands a slick counter jab that drops Martinez. Cameron follows him to the mat and looks to score damage while on top. The round ends with the South African in complete control.
Round 3
The speed has stayed with Saaiman who seems as fresh as he was in round one. Cameron stays on the front foot and lands at will. An accidental eye poke by Saaiman temporarily halts the action. A stern warning is issued to Saaiman.
Martinez isn’t out of the fight and the power is still clear when he lands. Saaiman takes no chances and takes Mana to the mat and has two minutes to work. Huge elbows open Martinez up as Cameron lands through the final seconds.
Saaiman wins the bout via majority decision (29-26, 29-27, 28-28).
What’s Next?
7-0. 1-0 UFC. Finished UFC Debut. Only 22. South African prospect. 6 finishes
Cameron Saaiman continues his undefeated start to his career and moves to 8-0. A real prospect in the bantamweight division he starts his UFC career with two wins from two.
Making an impressive start to his UFC career the only way is up for the South African prospect. Looking forward the UFC might like to continue the slow rise of Cameron which is completely understandable.
Next up, another fight against a fighter with UFC experience under their belt will help the development of Saaiman. Bantamweight certainly isn’t short of potential match-ups that would test Cameron greatly.
