Canelo Agrees to Take On Crawford in Vegas Super Fight on Riyadh Season
Super Fight Agreed
According to Ring Magazine Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will defend his undisputed Super-Middleweight titles versus Terence Crawford in Las Vegas. The fight has been agreed as part of Riyadh Season.
The battle of the generational pair is set to take place in September with a date not confirmed as of yet. The super fight will take place in Las Vegas. The two pound for pound greats, with Crawford #3 on the ring P4P rating. And Canelo #7 on the the P4P ratings. It’s a one of a kind fight, that do not come around often.
Both fighters accolades span across four weight divisions each. However Crawford is making a huge jump in weight. Crawford will rise over two weights from 154 to 168 to fight Canelo. With many raising concerns to that fact.
Crawford only made his debut at 154 last year as he headlined a Riyadh season show. He took on Israil Madrimov in a hugely competitive fight. Crawford took a unanimous decision victory.
Initially Canelo ignored these rumours and didn’t entertain them, however with the massive hype it has made with casuals, it has became impossible for Canelo to ignore.
Canelo to Stay Busy
Canelo is expected to keep busy before September however. The Ring, IBO, WBC, WBO, WBA Super-Middleweight champ is expected to fight in Vegas in May on a Ring Magazine show. William Scull the IBF world champ is a name that’s popped up a lot for Canelos potential opponent for Mays fight. Scull picked up the vacant IBF belt that was stripped of Canelo last year with a win over Vladimir Shishkin.
It’s unclear wether Crawford will have a fight before September, as it will be 13 months out of the ring by then if he doesn’t. However we all know Crawford has big history of career best performances after a long lay off.
