Caroline Plumley (2-3) is set to return to the Octagon after ten-months out at Almighty Fighting Championship 30 on May. 27.
Almighty will return to the Metrodome in Barnsley, which has been a comfortable venue for the promotion as of late.
Plumley will face Scottish Hit Squad’s Georgie Hackland, who’s had an excellent start to her amateur career thus far.
Ahead of her first outing of 2023, we had the chance to speak with Caroline Plumley, who’s eager to throw some leather.
Interview With Caroline Plumley
Just over a week until you make the walk again in a Scotland vs Scotland battle at Almighty FC 30. Talk to me about the fight and how you feel about the matchup as a whole with Georgie Hackland.
Honestly, I’m just happy to get a match. has been trying for months.
It should b a good fight between two Scottish savages, and I know Georgia is from an outstanding gym. I have put the work in so ready for what’s to come, and I’m sure she has done the same.
I believe the last time we saw you was at the Four Nations last summer. Although the results didn’t fall in your favour, how much value did you take away from that experience, and what was the biggest lesson you took away?
Yeah, unfortunately, due to pull-outs and issues with the wrong weights. I haven’t fought since then.
Absolutely loved going to the Four Nations, but unfortunately, I was totally unprepared. Took the fights on nine days’ notice and had actually been ill a week before that. But being me, I’m happy to step in and give it a go.
It was a very surreal weekend. The fights were more like a jits tournament, and with the rest of the expo going on, it was very strange.
What I took from that was definitely to prepare for fights and don’t just wing it.
Caroline Plumley Talks Improvements
It’s been ten months since we saw you last. That’s a lot of time to prepare, get better and overall add new tools to your arsenal. Have you been consistently training since then? If so, where do you feel you’ve made the biggest improvements?
I’m constantly training as I also compete in jits and love a sub-only match. I have been trying for MMA matches the whole time, but I do other things as I absolutely love the buzz of competition. My game will always evolve and get better as I’m constantly training with amazing guys.
I saw on your Instagram that you’ve been taking the role of coaching the younger ones. How much have you enjoyed spreading the knowledge you’ve learned thus far to the younger generation?
I have been teaching the kids for a long time now, but when I first moved to ACC, I stuck to myself.
I managed to get coaxed into helping with the kids last year. I do love teaching them, but only if they want to be there. I have struck up a good bond with them, but I’m pretty strict. They understand that they get on and do what they’re told and that I actually make it fun. I think it’s amazing to be part of a team and be around awesome people who bring you up and don’t stand for any s**t. Real people, and
unfortunately for kids nowadays, I don’t think many will truly ever get this as everything is fake and through a phone. I want the kids I teach to know I got their back no matter what, but I also have to put the work in to get it. Respect, trust and loyalty.
Plumley on Hackland’s Fights
As mentioned, you’ll face Georgia Hackland next Saturday in Barnsley. She’s young, hungry, and has a great start to her amateur career. Assuming you’ve watched her first two fights back, what do you see her in game?
I will have to admit I haven’t. But my coach has and will push my game in the direction I need . Honestly, I don’t like to over-focus, as just because someone plays a game doesn’t mean it will b the same second time. Trust in my coaches.
Georgia has more than likely watched your two fights at the Four Nations. What would you have to say to her if she was to expect the same version of you to show up in Barnsley?
F**k no. Unfortunately, the Four Nations I was not on my game, but I’m sure she has watched my other fights. Honestly, just get in that cage with me, beast it out and have some f**king fun.
