French Superstar Cédric Doumbé had a disappointing start to 2024 and aims to bounce back on May 17th.
Doumbé took the MMA world by storm in September 2023. A spectacular event in Paris, owned by the phenomenal kickboxer as he knocked out Jordan Zébo in a mere nine seconds. He walked to the octagon with a mattress reading ‘ Bonne Nuit Jordan’ and became a sensation across the MMA sphere. At PFL Paris in March everyone was fixated on his return in the French capital however the night ended disappointingly.
The fight against Baysangur Chamsoudinov was widely regarded as one of the most fascinating fights in all of European MMA. Additionally both men were undefeated coming into the bout. The magnitude of the fight rivalled Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov. Chamsoudinov utilised strong grappling against the striking of Doumbé and the fight was close heading to the final round. A freak accident occurred as Doumbé got a splinter in his toe and could not continue. A true moment of madness in the biggest fight in French MMA history.
Cédric Doumbé vs Derek Anderson
The kickboxing phenom returns against his most experienced opponent to date. Derek Anderson boasts a 17-4 record with a 12 fight tenure in Bellator and has faced some top competition in Michael Page and Patricky Pitbull. His last bout was in 2021 against Page where he suffered a TKO defeat with a broken nose. This will be the new co-main event in Paris as the main event fell through, Usman Nurmagomedov withdrew from the card due to an undisclosed injury. Now, violent bantamweights will headline the card, Patchy Mix is considered one of the best fighters outside of the UFC and he defends his belt against rising Russian Magomed Magomedov. Mix has already defeated the Russian in the Bellator Tournament back in 2022. The lightweight king will return later in the year most likely rebooked with supreme talent Alexander Shabliy.
Parisian fans are in for a great night with the immensely talented Mix and the incredibly popular Doumbé a top a card that will be full of European talent.
