Charles Johnson has responded to the end of his impressive four-fight winning streak.
Charles Johnson Reflects on Controversial Loss at UFC Vegas 103
The flyweight contender kicked off UFC Vegas 103 in a closely contested battle against Ramazan Temirov. Although Johnson put on a strong performance in the third round, it wasn’t enough to sway the judges, who awarded Temirov the first two rounds, leading to a unanimous 29-28 decision in his favour.
This defeat was a tough pill to swallow for ‘Inner G.’ His recent success had earned him a coveted spot in the flyweight top 15, a ranking that now appears in jeopardy after falling to an unranked opponent with only one prior UFC fight. The loss not only disrupts Johnson’s momentum but also raises questions about where he stands in the division moving forward.
Despite his disappointment, Johnson remained optimistic and suggested he didn’t entirely agree with the judge’s verdict. Following the fight, he took to X to share his thoughts on the outcome.
“Living out my dreams,” Johnson wrote.
“This one stings. Didn’t go my way. Left a lot of opportunities on the table.”
“Also felt I won the second. Flyweight fights are tough! See y’all soon.”
“I’m healthy. #innerGtv #skulletgangpiratecrew.”
At 34, Johnson has been around long enough to know that setbacks are part of the fight game. With his durability and well-rounded skill set, fans can expect to see him back in the Octagon soon, looking to bounce back stronger.
Manel Kape Eyes Title Shot Amid Controversy
Manel Kape propelled himself into flyweight title contention at UFC Vegas 103, despite controversy surrounding multiple eye pokes in the main event fight against Asu Almabayev, who was ultimately stopped by strikes in the third round.
After the fight, Alexandre Pantoja joined Kape for a live TV interview, setting the stage for a potential showdown. Meanwhile, Ramazan Temirov had his ambitious plans. The 2-0 UFC fighter, with a 19-3 overall MMA record, made it clear he wants to bypass the division’s contenders and go straight for the title.
Addressing Dana White in his post-fight conference, Temirov said:
“Dana, I will be the champion. I will clear the division.”
“Kai Kara-France, Brandon Moreno, [Alexandre] Pantoja—no problem.”
“I am the champion. Everything is on time. I am ready. I am Uzbek.”
