Charlie Ash is “very pleased” with his Almighty Fighting Championship 32 performance.
Ash entered his bout in Deeside filled with confidence after the success of his debut in July, where he submitted Phil Zhu in the third round at Badmofo MMA 6.
Ash picked up where he left off last weekend in Wales, attaining a second-round stoppage over Callum Thompson, breaking his jaw in the process.
Post Fight Interview With Charlie Ash
Charlie, pre-fight, you told me you wanted to keep building on the momentum from your debut. Saturday night, you achieved that and showcased you’re a young prospect to watch. How pleased are you with your performance just a few days removed from the fight?
I am very pleased with my performance on Saturday. I’m glad I got to showcase more of my skills and get another finish on my record.
You and Callum went toe-to-toe in an entertaining fight for the fans. Tell me, leading into the fight, you weren’t sure what to expect. Now, having shared the cage with him, what did you think about what he had to offer?
Callum wasn’t afraid to throw back. A few times, he bit down on his gumshield and came for me. He’s definitely earned my respect.
You really put it on Callum and broke his jaw during the fight. Is it safe to say this fight felt more rewarding than you debut?
This fight was more rewarding to me as I got to show more of my game, and I felt a lot calmer in the cage, much more composed, and I think I showed it on Saturday.
You did say pre-fight that your debut fight gave you confidence, which showed at AFC 32. That said, where do you feel you made the biggest improvements in this fight as opposed to your debut fight?
The biggest improvement in this camp was definitely about composure. Being able to remain calm under pressure and sticking to the gameplan. I’m very pleased I was able to show this.
