Charlie Falco gives his prediction ahead of Cage Warriors Academy South East 29 strawweight title defence on October 8th.
Falco is fresh from a unanimous decision victory over Riccardo Pala at CWSE 28 in July and has no intention of letting his strap go. Standing in his way is Adil Cherfi, who makes the walk to the Octagon for the first time as a pro.
We had the pleasure of catching up with Charlie Falco prior to his first title defence. Read the full interview below.
Interview With Charlie Falco
Fight week is on the horizon. Talk us through how you’re feeling physically and mentally ahead of October 8th?
Buzzing to be back in again so soon. This is the most active I’ve ever been so far and fighting again with no injuries and loads of momentum behind me.
Cage Warriors Academy South East is an excellent show and has a notable reputation. What does it mean to you to be headlining once again and defending your title on the show?
CWSE is the best show in the UK, and to win the belt against a guy like Pala, who was throwing bantamweights on their heads and has serious power, was great. I plan on defending the title against the best guys in Europe in the years to come.
Being the champion, you’ve always got a target on your back. Does that come with any added pressure when preparing?
There isn’t any added pressure with a belt in the mix. The punches will still feel the same. We are always after a win and always after a finish.
Charlie Falco Talks Fight Preparation
On the topic of preparation, have you done anything differently this time round to ensure the belt stays with you?
Fight prep is always tough, always hard rounds and improvements being made at BKK Fighters.
How would you sum up your pro career thus far?
Nowhere near complete and still finding my footing, locked in the right weight class for me, and it’s time to go to work making a mark on the UK MMA scene.
Fight Night
Fight night, you meet Adil Cherfi, who makes his professional debut. What do you know about your opponent, if anything? What are your overall thoughts on the matchup?
So Adil has been calling me out to fight since 2018, when we were first scheduled to fight, and it has come around again a few years later. I’m 100% sure he is going to try and take my head off from the first bell. Despite his record, he will be incredibly game and dangerous.
How can we expect Charlie Falco to keep a hold of his belt on October 8th and let the audience know what they are in for?
This being said, I will tap hands, put an elbow across his head and walk away with a belt and beer in hand.
