Interview With Chloe Cooke
You’re all set to make the walk to the cage for the first time as a professional. Are you anticipating anything to feel different as opposed to the last time you made the walk as an amateur?
Iv had over 100 fights in mma k1 and Muay Thai, not to mention countless bjj comps. It’s just another day at the office. The only thing that’s different is I’m getting paid.
Making your pro-debut can be a monumental moment in one’s career. You eased through your amateur career, but how did you and your team know the time was right to take that leap, and what did the conversation look like?
I fought the best girls I could get at amateur, been training for 11 years, so I believe now is the time to go pro.
I like to ask those I have never spoken with before about their journey into the sport and why MMA was a path they decided to pursue.
I did Muay Thai and k1 etc., for a long time, but I always wanted to fight in mma. To be good in mma, you have to be a complete fighter in all aspects of martial arts, which excites me.
You are leaving the amateur scene behind with a (5-0) record, four finishes and a title win. What is your biggest accomplishment and the most valuable lesson you learned in your time competing as an amateur?
My biggest accomplishments so far are winning the Cage Warriors Academy titles in both atom and Straweight divisions, also ISKA European champion in Muay Thai and also winning the UAEJJF Gold medal in the Thailand nation bjj championships.
Chloe Cooke Talks Anilissa La Bella
You’re faced with Anilissa La Bella on Saturday night. She was very complimentary of your style and skill set. Have you had the chance to look into her much? If so, what are your thoughts?
Analissa is a solid test. She’s not coming over here just to take part. She’s coming for the win.
She’s currently 0-2 in her pro career, and she’s been finished twice in the first. What do you take away from that?
She’s been finished twice on the floor, which is where I finished a few of my opponents, I haven’t seen much footage, but she fought some top female fighters, so I’m expecting the best version of her to date.
Some may look at this fight on paper and expect you to steamroll Anilissa with ease. What would you say to that?
She looks bigger than me. It’s 4oz gloves, and in this game, anything can happen. I’m not taking her lightly.
Finally, just highlight the importance of kickstarting your pro-career with a win and if we catch up a year from now. What position would you like to find yourself in?
It’s important for me to get this first pro win, so whether she wants to struggle, cuddle on the floor, or stand and bang, I’m ready for whatever comes. Either way, I’m winning.
