Chris Curtis remains extremely disciplined against the always-aggressive Joaquin Buckley to secure a super second-round TKO at UFC 282.
Calm-headed despite the onslaught coming his way, Chris’ plan would pay dividends in the second as he lands the perfect left hand to secure the victory.
Round 1
A first round that played out all on the feet. Each man was looking to impose their will. Chris Curtis remained patient and controlled the centre of the cage looking to counter. Joaquin Buckley would circle the outside and look to land big punches, to both the head and body.
A close round, and a technical affair both men had moments, however, it was Buckley landing the harder and more frequent blows.
Round 2
Starting similarly to the first, it was Buckley pushing the action. Curtis remains calm as he looks to counter the combinations of Buckley. Keeping the centre and his discipline, around the halfway point of the round, he’d find his shot.
As Joaquin threw a head kick. Chris would counter with a tremendous left straight landing flush on the jaw-dropping Buckley. Following him down to the canvas, Chris Curtis would unleaded a brutal barrage of punches to secure the TKO victory.
What’s Next?
Chris Curtis bounces back after his setback last time out against Jack Hermansson. Currently ranked at #15, this win should see him retain the number and even move up a few.
Next for Chris could be anyone ranked ahead of him. Now with a UFC record of 4-1, Chris has proved his worth and deserves a top-10 opponent on a full camp.
With a whole host of Middleweights set to compete in upcoming events, there are no shortage of suitors. With Darren Till and Dricus du Plessis set to showdown later. Either of these fights would be a great next step.
