Chris Curtis has spoken out againstthe UFC commentary team for their criticisms about his striking at UFC 297. In particular, Curtis was particularly annoyed with former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Curtis pulled of a split decision victory against Marc-Andre Barriault. Both fighters decided that this would be a proper striking match as neither fighter attempted a takedown. The fight went all three rounds and the judges believed that Chris Curtis did enough to claim the split decision victory. After the fight, the UFC commentary team did not hold back their views on Chris Curtis’s striking. Curtis took offence to these comments and did not respond softly
Chris Curtis slams Dominick Cruz
On an episode on Ariel Helwani’s show, The MMA Hour, Chris Curtis slammed the commentary team for swaying fan opinions against him. ‘According to Dominick Cruz, and now the whole internet because everyone latches on to commentators: ‘oh you’re just sparring.’ Stand here Dominick Cruz and let me hit you the way I was hitting him. You’ll see if it’s just sparing. No, we’re two large, solid men. I promise you guys, I was hitting him f*****g hard and he was hitting me hard.’
Chris Curtis also said that he despises the UFC commentary team. He admitted that he watches the fights on mute as he can’t bear analysts. Cruz is yet to respond to the comments made by Curtis. Knowing the outspoken nature of the former bantamweight champion, it’s safe to say that he most likely wont hold back.
Curtis also said that he wouldn’t be adverse to a fight against his teammate Sean Strickland. In fact, he said he would accept the fight ‘in a heart beat’. It is common knowledge that both fighters are great friends but both are very open to the opportunity of fighting each other. In the post fight conference, a reporter asked if Chris Curtis would be open to fighting Sean Strickland. Curtis claimed that the two fighters ‘go at it’ in the gym and he would love to do what Sean Strickland does for free for a fat pay check. However Chris Curtis said that the fight would definitely lean towards Strickland.
