With the recent news that Darren Till is out of his co-main event match-up with Jack Hermansson. It has since been revealed that the speculation was true. “ The Action Man” Chris Curtis will step in on short notice to take on the #8 middleweight in London.
“The Action Man” Chris Curtis
A veteran of the MMA game, Chris has been putting in the work for years on the American scene. A mainstay in the smaller and regional shows, Chris made his name as a reliable and talented guy, but he never made the jump up to the UFC. Despite a winning appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series.
That was until November 6th 2021, when he got the short notice call to fight Phil Hawes at UFC 268. After earning a KO victory in his first fight, Curtis made his name known to the fans. He went on to impress once again in his second appearance earning another finish. In his most recent fight, he showed his ability to execute a game plan when he nullified BJJ wizard Rodolfo Vieira over three rounds.
Now with a record of 29-8, 3-0 UFC. Chris Curtis has fully earned his chance to fight a ranked guy and someone as talented as Jack Hermansson.
Clash of Styles
Jack Hermansson quickly rose the UFC’s middleweight rankings after he arrived from Cage Warriors. A durable and tough opponent for anyone, Jack’s main area of expertise lies in the grappling department. A strong submission game sees Hermansson with one of the deadliest choke games in the company.
Chris on the other hand does most of his work on the feet. With 29 wins only one has come by way of submission. Also, boasting 12 decisions, Chris’ stand-up has seen him earn 16 victories via KO/TKO. Now riding an eight-fight winning streak, Chris will be looking to enter the top 15 in style.
Despite how it may seem this fight is more than a typical striker vs grappler match-up. With each man being extremely competent in one another’s preferred domain, expect this fight to go every way possible. From an all-out war to a first-round finish, Chris Curtis is a perfect fighter to bring the heat and entertain the UK crowd.
