UFC lightweight Chris Duncan has named two potential opponents following his impressive victory at UFC London on July 22.
The Scotsman scored a unanimous decision over Yanal Ashmouz (29-28, 30-27, 30-27), giving the Israeli his first professional loss. Duncan is now 2-0 inside the UFC after his win at UFC 286 back in March where he triumphed over Omar Morales.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, the 30-year-old named two fighters he would like to come up against in his next outing.
He said: “Trevor Peek or Jordan Leavitt, one of those two sounds like a good fight. Trevor comes to fight and Jordan Leavitt is a great jiu-jitsu practitioner.”
Peek is coming off of a first career loss, recently falling short against Chepe Mariscal at UFC Jacksonville. Meanwhile, Leavitt bounced back from last July’s defeat to Paddy Pimblett by TKO-ing Victor Martinez in February.
Duncan continued: “Nothing against them, [I] just think they’re great opponents and it’d be fun to get in there with them, give me another couple of smiles in there.”
Duncan Demands Third UFC Scotland Event
Fellow Scotsman Paul Craig also tasted victory in London, elbowing his way to a TKO win over Andre Muniz in his middleweight debut. This sets the UFC up perfectly for a potential event in Scotland next year, with UFC executive Dave Shaw saying he expects the promotion to move outside of London for one of the two UK-based cards in 2024.
Scotland has only hosted two events in the past, with the most recent coming in 2017. Gunnar Nelson and Santiago Ponzinibbio threw down inside the Glasgow-based OVO Hydro, with the latter coming out on top.
Duncan said: “Shoutout to Dana White, let’s get this Scotland card going. We’ve got Paul Craig, Joanne Calderwood, all these great guys so I’d love to share the octagon with my [fellow] Scottish warriors and put on a show in either Glasgow or Edinburgh.”
