Chris Duncan Emerges Victorious With Second Round Guillotine
Scottish prospect Chris Duncan looked fantastic at UFC London. He defeated Jordan Vucenic by submission in the second round, improving to 6-1 in his last 7 fights.
The Lightweights felt each other out for the first minute of the fight. Duncan then connected with a clean combination, landing a hard right kick to the body with a straight right hand upstairs immediately following. The punch dropped Vucenic to the canvas. The Englishman didn’t seem in danger of a stoppage. Rather, he was more so caught off-balance by the stiff punch. Regardless, it was a heavy combination and Duncan took full advantage of the knockdown. He maintained top control for the final 4 minutes of the round, landing ground-and-pound and hunting for submissions. When Vucenic did manage to stand, he was promptly slammed back to the mat.
The second round began with Duncan landing a couple of hard punches and scoring another takedown. Back on the feet, Jordan Vucenic found some success with strikes of his own, landing some hard punches and opening a cut on the side of the Scotsman’s head. With 90 seconds left in the round, Chris Duncan channeled his inner Dustin Poirier, jumping the gilly and sinking in the choke for the submission win.
Duncan Surges Toward Rankings
Chris Duncan has considerable momentum after the win. He improves to 4-1 in the UFC, winning 2 straight contests after being submitted by Manuel Torres in February 2024. He could be in line for a bigger fight, especially after an exciting stoppage win. In the post-fight interview, he made his case for Performance of the Night, saying, “I want that 50 G’s! Look at that performance!”
He then went on to call out Terrance McKinney for his next fight. If the UFC is willing to oblige, it would be a treat for fight fans. McKinney and Duncan each have very heavy hands and aren’t in the habit of relying on scorecards for their results. Whenever we see Duncan return, he’ll look to build off of this excellent showing and start building a case for the top 15.
