Over the last few weeks, there has been speculation that a fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn has been in the making.
Gareth A. Davies was the first to confirm that the teams were in talks.
However, it has finally been confirmed that the fight will finally take place.
Previously, promoter Eddie Hearn played down the fight and his focus was to book Benn against Keith Thurman.
Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn Set To Take Place At The O2 Arena
On August 9, broadcaster DAZN and promoters Matchroom and Wasserman issued an official press release to say the fight is on.
The fight will take place on Saturday, October 8 at the O2 Arena in London.
Both men have agreed to a catchweight bout. It’s likely that a weight of 157lbs has been agreed.
It is due to be streamed live on DAZN pay-per-view. However, price details are yet to be announced.
Eubank Jr is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Liam Williams at the Motorpoint Arena back in February this year.
As for Benn, ‘The Destroyer’ is coming off of a second-round TKO victory over Chris van Heerden back in April.
There is a bit of personal history between the pair.
Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr both fought each other twice in their professional careers.
Eubank Sr was successful in the first meeting back in 1990, after he knocked Benn out in the ninth round.
Just three years later, the pair would fight to a draw at Old Trafford.
So, it is fair to say that there will be a bit of animosity towards each other during the build-up to October’s showdown.
With that being said, October 8th’s bout promises to be an absolute thriller for the boxing faithful.
Both men will be itching to put on a display at the O2 in what will be a historic night of boxing.
