It’s fair to say that the showdown between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is going to be epic.
Recently, it was announced that the pair were scheduled to fight on October 8 at the O2 Arena. Unfortunately, an agreement over the rehydration clause is holding up an announcement.
The pair have agreed to an 11st 2Ib catchweight, with official confirmation of the fight set to be announced later this week. It will be a first for both men as Benn has never fought above welterweight, whilst Eubank Jr has never fought below middleweight.
Eubank Jr is coming off of a decision victory against Liam Williams back in February. As for Benn, he is coming off of a second-round TKO victory against Chris van Heerden back in April.
Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn Prediction
Heading into this fight, it will be intriguing to see how Benn will do moving up in weight.
Eubank Jr will have the height advantage. However, he will also have a significant edge in the reach department.
There is no doubt that there will be a lot of animosity leading up to the fight. On fight night thought, Eubank Jr will have to remain focused. A lot of pressure will be on him considering he will be moving down in weight and fighting a smaller opponent.
From the get-go, Eubank has to use the reach to his advantage and try and frustrate Benn from range.
With that being said, Benn’s nickname is ‘The Destroyer.’ With 14 professional wins via knockout, the fact that he will be gaining weight may pay dividends.
Furthermore, every time Benn steps foot inside the ring, he is very aggressive and explosive, which the fans love.
Eubank Jr is a very slick, seasoned, boxer and will be able to overcome Benn’s explosiveness in the early exchanges.
Consequently, the fact that he is the bigger man, and will probably come in a fair bit heavier, will be the deciding factor in the upcoming showdown with Benn.
If Eubank Jr doesn’t get the finish, he will most likely win via decision.
