Christian Leroy Duncan aims to extend his unbeaten professional run to nine wins on Saturday as he takes on fellow prospect Armen Petrosyan.
‘CLD’ made his UFC debut at UFC 286 in March 2023. His debut was short-lived as his opponent Duško Todorović suffered a knee injury two minutes into the fight.
In the immediate aftermath during the post-fight press conference, Duncan claimed he felt it was “anticlimactic” and a “frustrating moment” for him after just starting to go through the motions. Nevertheless, his warrior attitude showed by expressing that he still believes he is “0 and 0 in the UFC.”
Undefeated since turning pro in 2020, CLD took only six wins, five of which were stoppages, to be crowned the Cage Warriors Middleweight champion. Duncan’s overall record now stands at a perfect 8-0.
Duncan has shown he is more of a striker with six out of eight wins coming by way of knockout or TKO. He has also become famous for his flying knee which dropped Justin Moore and finished Djati Melan.
He does have one win by submission. Impressively, it came against a wrestler in Justin Moore. CLD shot for a takedown, successfully clamped the hands on a double leg, and grounded him before smoothly taking the back and synching in a rear naked choke. Showing a complete well-rounded style, it will be intriguing to see who can end his streak.
Armen Petrosyan, his opponent this weekend, has a record of 7-2. His last trip to the octagon came at UFC 280 where he defeated AJ Dobson by unanimous decision.
Petrosyan hasn’t finished an opponent since joining the UFC. He earnt his place on the roster by knocking out Kaloyen Kolev on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Christian Leroy Duncan enters the contest as a -165 favourite. CLD will have entered as a favourite in both of his UFC contests.
