Ciryl Gane comes through brief adversity to KO Tai Tuivasa in a fight for the ages. What an absolute war for both men, each was hurt and on the brink of winning. However, it was the Frenchman who ultimately comes out on top.
Round one goes as many expected. Gane was keeping his range landing the kicks and jab while using his immense footwork to distance. Tai had his moments and would explode but the illusive Ciryl couldn’t be found.
Round two went the same. Tai wasn’t a million miles away but he was just a step behind. Around the midway point, the round would take a turn and explode. Tai lands a huge right in Gane that sees him hit the deck. Somehow he survives the punch on the ensuing barrage and gets back to his range.
Back into space Ciryl stays calm and disciplined and begins to throw and land a series of huge kicks to the body. These buckled the Aussie who would cripple over in pain. Seamingly near the end, Tai would ignore his inner instinct to fold and began swinging back.
While doing so he once again clipped Gane who survived the blow and the round. Three started and the game for Ciryl was clear, attacking the body. He did just this, hurting Tuivasa again. This time he wouldn’t let up and began to land massive punches to the head. These were too much for Tai who would go out in his shield.
What a fight and event. UFC Paris delivered big time.
