The coaches of Colby Covington claim that UFC 296 will end with a finnish for ‘Chaos’ against the current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
Finally after a whole nine months of waiting, the long awaited fight between Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington and Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards is almost here. The all American fighter has walked his way into another title fight with his last fight being almost two years ago. However his coaches believe that his training has warranted them to claim that ‘Rocky’ Edwards won’t even make it past the fourth round
This will be the first time that Colby Covington and Leon Edwards will have met in the cage. In recent years it can’t be denied that Leon has been in greater form as two wins over the dominant champ Kamaru Usman has granted Edwards the respect that he deserves. Colby however is very capable of making the fight uncomfortable for the kick boxer as Colby Covington’s relentless cardio and wrestling can be the path towards an unlikely win for ‘Chaos’. But it seems that MMA Masters coaches Cesar Caneiro and Daniel Valverde believe that Colby Convington can win the fight with his striking.
Coaches speak on Colby Covington
With an interview with Sherdog, Cesar Caneiro claimed that ‘I don’t think it’s going past the fourth round’ which Daniel Valverde supported by saying ‘I think TKO fourth round, third or fourth round TKO for Colby.’ They both continued, ‘Colby’s hungrier than ever. Very hungry still. Colby is a very famous guy. He’s a successful guy, but he is still very hungry. He still wants that belt so bad.
‘We realized that Colby is not a real southpaw.’ Caneiro continued. ‘So we now know exactly what we have to work with him. Get his cross better, get his orthodox better and we did. If you look at him now, he’s amazing! He doesn’t drop his hands like before, like a boxer.’ Clearly both coaches hold a firm belief that the new and improved striking of Colby Covington will be able to stand with the exemplary and perfect striking of the welterweight champ.
