Colby Covington still talking about Leon Edward‘s father.
“Chaos” finally came back into the octagon after a long lay off. 651 days to be exact. At UFC 296, it was his third attempt at UFC gold. He faced the raining, defending, undisputed champion Leon “Rocky” Edwards. Covington came short loosing in a terribly one sided fight with a unanimous decision on the judges score card. Every shot and takedown attempted and thrown was answered back by Rocky. Just nothing convincing was shown by Colby, with Donald Trump in attendance.
Covington a few days before the fight made some comments about Edward’s father. Which made this fight more personal for Rocky. However, most of the media, fighters and even Dana White went onto condemning these comments. “Chaos” usually uses his mouth to sell fights but this time most people thought he went to far. Recently, Covington was on the Patrick Bet-David’s podcast and came out with more “excuses” as to why he fought the way that he did. Claiming he broke his foot in the first round.
He continued on to show no remorse in saying Leon Edward’s father was a bad guy like Hitler.
“Why would I feel bad about anything I say about someone who is such a criminal and put so much pain in people’s lives? I’m not gonna feel bad for someone like that,” Covington said. “Just like Hitler. He was a terrible person. I’m not comparing him to Hitler, but he’s that same level of bad guy”
Leon Edward’s father was murdered when the champion was 13. Rocky mentioned in the past that his father was involved in some sketchy activities back when they lived in Jamaica. As well as bringing some trouble in the UK.
Colby Covington Makes More Excuses
As you may have heard, Colby lost due to his association with Trump. Or so he claims. Ever since the fight ended, Covington has a laundry list of what went wrong for his lackluster performance at UFC 296. Including the broken foot as mentioned earlier, the judges already had a biased opinion towards Colby.
“I do believe that you know,” said Covington, suggesting his support for Trump may have cost him the fight. “I think they stack the deck against us because they don’t want we the people to have control of this country again.
“That’s what Trump stands for. He stands for democracy, he stands for freedom. So, they’re going to do everything they can to keep us down, you know. From shadow banning us online, even if we’re saying the truth, you know. They’re going to make us censored, they’re not going to let other people see that, you know.
“If it’s in a judging position in a fight or any type of athletic sporting event, they’re going to stack the deck against us. It’s a sad time in our country but we the people, we need to rise up. We can’t let this keep us down.”
We all know how Covington and Trump are seemingly good friends with Colby being a huge supporter.
Ever since Covington fought in Brazil, this new aura of him started. Rumors were that he was going to get cut from the UFC and he needed to do something to stay. With the “Brazil you’re a dump” comment, Colby fought and won for the interim belt and then had three title attempts. Whether “Chaos” is playing a character or not, it’s a shame he doesn’t know when to stop.
