In a recent interview with All Out Fighting, Covington unleashed a barrage of accusations.

Recalling Edwards’ controversial bout against Belal Muhammad in 2021, where an eye poke led to a no contest, Covington adds fuel to his claims.
But Covington doesn’t stop at accusing Edwards of cheating; he turns his focus to Edwards’ intelligence, labeling him as ‘Low IQ Leon’ and questioning his education level.

“As a person, ‘Leon Scott,’ AKA ‘Low IQ Leon,’ what’s his grade level? What’s his level of education?” Covington asked. “I swear, that guy’s a mumbling, fumbling idiot. He’s literally always drooling on himself. As a person, I just think that that guy’s a waste of f*cking chromosomes and a waste of space.”
In Covington’s unfiltered assessment, Edwards is not just a cheater; he’s a “mumbling, fumbling idiot” who is “always drooling on himself” and a “waste of chromosomes” and “a waste of space.”
As UFC 296 approaches, two elite fighters set the stage for an intense high-stakes welterweight clash. Covington has recently expressed his interest in confronting the formidable challenge of competing against Islam Makhachev.
