UFC Welterweight Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington Names His Most Hated Former Foe
The ever-controversial Colby Covington never shies away from saying what he wants to antagonise his opponents. From his notorious post-fight speech in Brazil back in 2017 to most recently jabbing at Leon Edwards’s late Father, Colby knows no boundaries.
Chaotic by name and certainly chaotic by nature, it has been years since Colby shared mutual respect with his opponent. His fights with former champion Kamaru Usman, Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards were all largely built around their shared hatred for Covington.
Despite being rumoured to fight Ian Garry at UFC 303, Covington has yet to compete since UFC 296 last December against Leon Edwards. He returns this weekend against Joaquin Buckley at UFC Fight Night Tampa, a fight with very little animosity given Covington’s track record.
Ahead of the fight, Colby Covington has picked which former opponent he hates the most.
Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington’s Most Hated Former Foe
In a recent stream on Twitch, days before his return Colby shared which opponent he hates most:
“Definitely Marty Juiceman [Kamaru Usman]. Just cause he’s a cheater and he’s a coward. He definitely cheated multiple times in our fights. Can’t respect someone who cheats in a fight. I’ve never cheated. I’ve done everything the right way. I didn’t cut corners, didn’t ask for shortcuts.”
Before their first meeting at UFC 245, Covington had repeatedly accused Usman of using PED’s. During the fight, Covington believed Usman was faking the several stoppages for groin strikes and eye-pokes.
Regardless Usman would go on to finish the first fight by TKO and the rematch at UFC 268 by unanimous decision. Although seemingly civil with Buckley fight week will show whether Covington will change his tone as the fight approaches.
