Combate Global Boasts Mucha Mas Accion and Acosta vs Anguiano Delivered
Combate Global’s calling card is mucha mas Accion. That translates to much more action, and their card on April 10th was exactly that. Abril “Mulan” Anguiano vs Lucero “La Loba” Acosta was action-packed from the first fight. The card had four finishes and one foul in six fights. It’s hard to think of the last time we saw a six-fight card with one foul. With that being said, it’s even harder to argue the slogan of Much Más Acción!
Combate Global’s Only Foul Called for the Doctor
Three fights were over before the first major foul happened. The foul took place during Drake Randall vs Jose “Tiro Loco” Ferreira, which easily could have been a main-event bout. From the way it played out from the opening bell a high-paced, no room for errors chess match. The eye poke happened midway through round one. This caused the first and last break in the action as the doctor checked Randall’s eye for damage. After a couple of minutes, the action was back on. Ferreira caught Randall with a nasty hook at the very end of round one. That fired up the crowd and the corners because of how close to the bell it landed. Randall vs Tiro Loco ended with Ferreir earning a TKO victory against a very game Randall. Leading us into the electric co-main and main events.
Combate Global Closed the Show with a Bang
If Randall vs Ferreira didn’t already give pay-per-view vibes. Campbell McLaren and his Combate Global team pulled no punches with the end of the event. Jaden Ortega vs Marcos “El Lobo” Lloreda, the build-up was longer than the fight. As Ortega entered La Jaula ( the cage) and finished the grizzled veteran Lloreda. Before the crowd could settle into their seats, well. The Man event more than delivered on its build-up! Anguiano vs Acosta was wall-to-wall action inside la jaula from the first bell. Mulan used her crispy boxing counters and old-school foot-stomps. To control the range and her constant stance switches caused La Loba problems at first. As the rounds counted down, Anguiano’s pace slowed so Acosta could fight her way back. At the end of the barn burner, Acosta was named the winner in a split decision. Once again showing why she’s the most watched women’s MMA dynamo at the moment. During all of this action, if you managed to glance around at the crowd, you could see the who’s who of MMA elite.
Anguiano vs Acosta Bring Out the MMA Elite
With all the action going on inside the cage. It would be easy to miss all the stars in the crowd and the corners of the Combate athletes. To name the ones that could be spotted at just a glance. Arturo “Makako” Vegara and Ailin “Fiona” Perez were seated close to each other. Enjoying the fights as the Combate athletes left it all in the cage. Not far in front of Makako and Fiona was President Awesome himself, Asim Zaidi. The President of Karate Combat and the face of the world-famous Goat Shed Academy. The names go on from there. Terrance ” T-Wrecks” McKinney cornered Jose “Ochito” Ochoa during his fight with Isaac Padilla. That fight had its controversy as Padilla was announced the winner, but Ochoa won the fight. Ignacio Bahamondes was a part of the fantastic corner team of Ferriera during the victory over Randall. Not a bad showing for just the second YouTube-streamed event Combate Global has put on.
