Interview With Connor Jones
Days out from your first outing of this year after debuting last year. How are you feeling? Have you had a few months of rest and time to reflect on last year?
I’m feeling great, to be honest with you.
Having had the time to reflect, how do you actually view your debut year in competition?
I viewed it as a learning curve last year, finally getting the first two out of the way and knowing what to do.
Looking at your last two fights. What are some of the biggest things you’ve learned or takeaways you’ve taken onboard to try and correct ahead of this fight?
I’ve learned not to spoil my work and not to rush things moving forward.
On Sunday, you meet the debuting Connor McGeary. In terms of your preparation, how have you formulated a game plan for someone with no footage out there? Is it just a case of focussing on your own skillset?
That’s exactly it. I’m literally just improving my own skillset and sharpening my tools.
Jones Talks Connor McGeary
What would you have to say to a Connor McGeary who expects the same version of yourself that showed up in your last two fights?
I’m levels above from my last two fights.
Just talk me through the importance and what it would mean to you to pick up your first amateur career win this Sunday.
To pick up my first amateur win would be great, and I look forward to getting it.
Finally, you leave with the victory at Rise and Conquer 12. Have you thought about what the rest of the year may look like for you? Do you want to try to build some momentum and keep gaining experience?
I want to be active as I can this year, take as much experience as I can in and keep progressing.
