Conor McGregor responded to Dana White’s comments via his social media.
White believes that a potential fight between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones would top McGregor’s clash with Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2018.
In a now deleted X (Twitter) post McGregor fired back at Dana White.
McGregor Fires Back at Dana White
After Jon Jones defeated Stipe Miocic this weekend to retain his heavyweight title, many now believe Tom Aspinall is next in line for a title opportunity. Certainly, Dana White agrees with this. The UFC President said; “It would be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history, by a long shot. It’s going to be the biggest heavyweight fight ever.”
“And it’ll probably be the biggest fight we’ve ever done.”
White’s comments quickly went viral on Twitter and it didn’t take long for Connor McGregor to respond. In a now deleted post McGregor wrote “Now, Now”. White also said Conor McGregor will now most likely return to the Octagon at the backend of 2025.
Further Setback for Conor McGregor
After suffering a near career-ending leg injury at the hands of Dustin Poirier, many fans expected the Irishman’s MMA career to be over. However, McGregor remains committed to returning to the Octagon. Initially, a return fight was scheduled with Michael Chandler. However, after two years of waiting Chandler moved on, seemingly unwilling to wait any further for McGregor. Despite filming the Ultimate Fighter the pair never got to the Octagon.
UFC 303 was meant to be all about Conor McGregor’s return but the Irishman was unable to make the event citing he needed more time following a separate injury. There is no doubt the Irishman will be one of the biggest names in the UFC despite not fighting for over three years. However, McGregor isn’t short of opponents with Dan Hooker saying he will be willing to throw down with the Irishman.
