Following a recent interview on the MMA Hour Conor McGregor is pondering about the finer details of his return. The notorious one is being more vocal about his return in the following week going over details for a potential return.
Conor McGregor Summer Blowout
McGregor’s most recent interview is shining a lot of light on his return and fanning the flames of speculation for the stars return. McGregor definitively telling Ariel Helwani “This summer the MAC is back”. This is huge previously having no idea about a return date but now McGregor has confidence in his return going so far as to have an Octagon put in his garden for training purposes.
The Notorious one was beaming full of life exclaiming “I am ecstatic” where in previous interviews he seemed frustrated he now appears more positive. This is great news suggesting this current tiff between the UFC and Conor is over and that we’ll be seeing McGregor soon. He went on to say that the UFC is the ” best, most iconic fighting organisation there’s ever been” a far cry from his recent criticism of the company.
The Weight
Mcgregor is unsure about the weight . McGregor has “not touched the scales” since his last fight. McGregors weight has being speculated over the past few years. The weight that makes most sense is 155lbs being McGregors home for a while now and gives the fight more significance. If Conor beats Chandler at 155 he immediately gets a high ranking at lightweight giving him many opportunities. If the fight is at 170 it loses a lot of significance in terms of getting Conor ranked. Being lighter also benefits Conor with his fast twitch high energy style he doesn’t need the extra muscle to eat up his energy.
The Rounds
Conor ideally wants 3 rounds telling Ariel Helwani “may take it down to 3 rounds for this one. I just want to wet my beak” assuring that ” I ‘ll do 3 rounds really nicely now”. This makes sense as McGregor has been out for a while so is unsure about his cardio and capacity to do the 5. It’s also well documented McGregor’s best rounds are 1 and 2 never having great cardio. It also works as a way for Mcgregor to ease his way back in testing the waters and dusting off the cobwebs. But, he is happy to do the 5 rounds for his next fight.
Activity and the Future
McGregor loves activity something he’s been losing over the years but now he does “believe I get my 2 fights in this year”.
Assuming he has no injuries this is realistic. Assuming he beats Chandler and does it well the future looks bright for the superstar with many options. McGregor can fight the loser of Gaethje vs Holloway, Dustin again, the loser of Olivera vs Tsarukyan, Gamrot, Dariush. Mcgregor’s future is looking bright for the time being and hopefully we see him fight Chandler this summer.
