The Initial Event
Miss Hand’s main accusations ae that she was raped December 2018 and as a result went on to develop PTSD. Hand alleges that following a Christmas party on December 8th 2018 McGregor picked her and a friend up. After this Hand alleges she was taken to a hotel penthouse suite in a South Dublin hotel where McGregor was staying at the time. There Miss Hand claims she was raped being pinned to the bed. Miss Hand alleges during the rape McGregor had caused her tampon to be pushed up to an extent where it was painful.
Following , this Miss Hand was taken to hospital by paramedics Eithne Scully and Neil Dempsey. Both, paramedics have been used as a source of evidence. They say that Miss Hand had severe bruising around her neck, breast, legs, buttocks, and thighs. Footage from Miss Hand’s journey in the ambulance was used. One paramedic said Miss Hand was distressed.
The Effects
A few weeks after the alleged rape Miss Hand was diagnosed with PTSD and had been prescribed medication by her Doctor Frank Clarke. Dr Clarke has treated Miss Hand since she was a child and was used to provide evidence. He said Miss Hand’s stronger medications were to deal with the emotional pain from her PTSD and a vast array of them were being used. He also revealed Miss Hand has also been receiving counselling as treatment.
The court were informed of the symptoms Miss Hand had been suffering and how due to the rape and PTSD she was having personal struggles. Miss Hand had to quite her job as a hairdresser due to gossip surrounding her. Miss Hand’s relationship at the time also broke down.
Dr Ann Leader a psychiatrist examined Miss Hand and appeared in court. Dr Leader discussed Miss Hand’s psychological turmoil including nightmares, feelings of detachment, and lack of control, anxious, and traumatised.
McGregor’s Future
The case does not look good for Conor McGregor with Miss Hand’s evidence so far being very convincing. This is quite a damming accusation and unfortunately is not hard to believe. McGregor now has a history of antisocial behaviour such as suspected drug use, punching an old man in a pub, cheating on his wife, the bus incident. Another thing although a lot more horrific is not a stretch by any means.
If convicted McGregor could face jail time unless he decides to settle outside of court. However, the case is still ongoing and McGregor may yet prove his innocence. We shall see what the result of this case is in due course.
