“Notorious” Conor McGregor has shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
“The Problem Child” Jake Paul and “Iron” Mike Tyson are set to fight on November 15th 2024 in Darlington, Texas. A fight originally booked for July 20th this year was postponed due to Mike Tyson falling ill.
Midway through a flight Tyson reported feeling nauseous and dizzy. After first responders attended to the 57-year-old Tyson the sickness was attributed to a flared-up ulcer by Tyson’s representatives.
Nevertheless, concerns were raised over the well-being of Mike Tyson and whether the fight should be postponed or cancelled altogether. Even without the ulcer flare, the physicality of Tyson has been questioned since the bout was announced.
Jake Paul is only 27 years old, 30 years younger than Mike, taller and arguably stronger. Given the illustrious yet gruelling career of “Iron” Mike, how much will the Heavyweight boxing legend have left to give against a far fresher opponent like Jake Paul?
“The Problem Child’s” Career to Date
To the surprise of many, Jake Paul (10-1-0) shows he is not just boxing for money. Each time he fights, he seems to gain the respect of more and more fans.
The YouTuber turned brawler had his back against the wall from his debut. The controversial nature of his promoting style and online trolling skits had most combat sports fans rooting against him.
Discrediting numerous MMA and Boxing legends in his online callout videos earned him the role of the anti-hero. But as he adds more wins to his record the hate has died down compared to his early fights.
With 7 of his wins coming by knock out Paul certainly knows how to get eyes on his fights. With wins over fan favourites like; Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and most recently Mike Perry, Paul’s years of dedication to the sport are effective.
Despite his success fans have shown a distaste for him repeatedly fighting retired fighters. The last time he fought a fighter of a similar age he came up short, with Tommy Fury (25) handing him his first career loss.
Given the age difference between Paul and Tyson, this fight may be the biggest mismatch yet.
Conor McGregor Discredits Paul V Tyson: “Who Gives a B******s”
UFC superstar and former Featherweight and Lightweight champion “Notorious” Conor McGregor has chimed in on Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson. In a live stream for Duelbits Irishman McGregor enjoyed one of his Forged Irish Stouts as he entertained the live chat.
A viral appearance that filled timelines with countless viral clips as Conor smoked and drank his way through the stream. When asked by the live chat to share his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Tyson and Paul, McGregor praised “Iron” Mike’s weed farm as he smoked a joint:
“Thoughts on Tyson-Jake Paul? I actually have Tyson’s marijuana. I’m going to show love to Mike Tyson… This is Mike Tyson kush straight from his farm, I had someone go out and grab it for us. Mike Tyson, this is your stock.“
After showing love to Mike Tyson, Conor McGregor weighed in on the bout saying:
“I don’t give a b****ks. They’re wearing 14oz gloves and it’s two-minute rounds, is it? Who gives a b*****ks? I hope Mike rattles the little dope, no one gives a f**k about him. How is that even in the f**king Dallas stadium?”
“Notorious” made his pick clear rooting on the side of Tyson hoping he shuts out Jake Paul. Not only was he rooting against Jake Paul but he showed his disinterest in the fight’s ruleset.
Commenting on the mandatory use of 14oz gloves, typically used for sparring. Further unimpressed by the fight’s 2-minute rounds as opposed to the usual 3-minute rounds.
Love him or hate him, fans will be tuning in to see how well Tyson fares at his age and whether the Jake Paul hype train will continue.
