Conor McGregor in recent times has been entangled with a civil court case in recent times. McGregor was taken to civil court by Nikita Hand who had alleged she’d been sexually assaulted by McGregor. After being provided with substantial evidence the jury ruled that McGregor is guilty. And so McGregor has been officially found guilty of sexual assault. He has been ordered to pay over 200,000 Euros in damages.
Fallout for McGregor
From the bus incident, to the bar incident, to the alleged drug use, to the alleged cheating on his wife McGregor’s character and reputation has been in decline for years. But, this may just be the final nail in the coffin for McGregor. There had been allegations in the past relating to McGregor previously to sexual assault. But now he’s officially been found guilty of one of the worst things a person can do.
To put it lightly McGregor should be in a cell and never be allowed to fight again period. Luckily for McGregor this was only a civil case so he only has to pay damages which he can easily afford. However, what he cannot buy with money is people’s opinions of him following this guilty verdict. Due to his popularity and career he will always have some fans but no doubt this is a massive blow to McGregor’s reputation.
Whether or not McGregor will fight again as a result of this remains to be seen. McGregor’s return already seemed unlikely and now with this it may be less likely. However, the UFC have never had problems with fighters being awful people. Notable names include Jon Jones, Greg Hardy, Sedriques Dumas etc. The UFC doesn’t seem to care as long as a fighter can make them money. And Conor McGregor even now can make them a lot of money.
Nikita Hand
Now we must shift our focus to the victim of McGregor’s actions Nikita Hand. Finally she has received some form of justice for McGregor’s disgusting actions in 2018. The money won’t be able to undo the suffering she has endured but it’s a start. Hand has struggled with PTSD since her sexual assault and this entire ordeal must have been awful to go through.
Following the verdict she made a statement. Miss Hand said, “I would like to start off by saying I’m overwhelmed and touched by the support I have received from everybody. It’s something that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. Now that justice has been served, I can now try and move on and look forward to the future with my family and friends and daughter. I hope my story is a reminder that no matter how afraid you might be: Speak up, you have a voice and keep on fighting for justice. You can stand up for yourself if something happens to you – no matter who the person is – and justice will be served.”
Inspiring words and we wish her the best of luck in carrying on with her life. As for McGregor although his reputation is in the mud he won’t suffer major consequences. He has more than enough money to never work again. However, he will now forever carry the label of being a rapist.
