Conor McGregor, the renowned Irish MMA fighter, is facing a two-year driving ban following a dangerous driving conviction. The 36-year-old, who resides in The Paddocks, Straffan, Co Kildare, was charged with multiple driving violations related to an incident that occurred on March 22, 2022, at the N4/M50 interchange in Palmerstown, west Dublin.
McGregor was driving his Bentley Continental GT when he was pulled over by the Gardaí on the motorway. His driving history has been scrutinized before, with several court appearances for similar offences.
On Wednesday at Blanchardstown District Court, Judge David McHugh handed down a two-year driving ban to McGregor. Along with this, McGregor received a five-month suspended prison sentence and was fined €5,000 for dangerous driving. He was also fined an additional €1,000 for careless driving on the M50 that same day.

Back in 2018, McGregor was previously disqualified from driving for six months after being caught speeding at about one-and-a-half times the legal limit near Dublin. At that time, the court noted several prior traffic violations, including running red lights, using a mobile phone while driving, entering a bus lane, and parking on double yellow lines.
McGregor admitted outside the courtroom that he needed to “slow down and drive safer” going forward.
In other news, McGregor was recently ruled out of the UFC 303 event, where he was set to fight Michael Chandler in Las Vegas, due to an injury. In a statement posted online, he expressed his disappointment: “Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout. The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team. My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I’ll be back!”
McGregor later shared photos of his injury—a broken toe—and commented, “A slight lapse in concentration and a nuisance of an injury was picked up.”
Additionally, McGregor has recently shown his support for US presidential candidate Donald Trump on social media. He praised Trump for his resilience following an assassination attempt, writing on X: “A 78 year old multiple billionaire he should be on a yacht on the med touring golf courses. But he is not. He is in Pennsylvania spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God speed Donald! God bless the United States.”
