Conor McGregor, the former UFC “double champion”, attended the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois boxing fight at Wembley Arena in London. However, his behavior during the event raised eyebrows with former UFC superstar Michael “The Count” Bisping.
Conor McGregor Openly Insulted by Michael Bisping for Cigar Antics
Conor struts confidently, with a large unlit cigar between his teeth, as if he owns the place. His cigar antics drawing criticism from Bisping on the “Believe You Me” Podcast: “Conor, you would’ve thought he was a big Daniel Dubois fan because when Joshua was getting those (punches), he was out of his seat, you know, maybe the cigar might have even got lit -Walking in with a big cigar unlit between the teeth, how do we feel about that? Because two words spring to mind right now, ‘douchebag.'”
McGregor reposted an image to X, where he can be seen with “the notorious cigar”, standing ringside after the fight with Terrence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, and Tyson Fury.
Perpetual Delays
Despite Conor McGregor’s anticipated UFC comeback being postponed, he’s keeping busy on social media, and attending various social events. Ben Askren, not one to hold back, has publicly labeled McGregor as an ‘Addict,’ referring to the Irish fighter’s frequent party related posts. Almost defiantly, McGregor shared a negative drug test result, underscoring that he’s the most tested UFC athlete this year. He has also expressed interest in competing in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), a promotion which he now co-owns.”
Bisping remains skeptical though, noting that McGregor’s return discussions have become repetitive. He noted sarcastically about Conor’s unreliability over the past year. “We can’t keep having the same discussion every five minutes.. It’s like, ok, he’s coming back, great, when? I think he will fight, but until that time comes, I’m not going to be jumping up and down going “He’s back” every time he tweets.”
One thing is for certain. McGregor’s behavior and ongoing comeback saga, continue to generate attention and debate in the combat sports world. And nobody can attract attention quite like Conor.
