Conor McGregor UFC 303 Out of Michael Chandler Bout
It was confirmed earlier this week that Conor McGregor has officially pulled out of UFC 303 due to an injury. This came amidst much speculation over the past few weeks, with fears of a pull-out arose after the Dublin press conference was cancelled. Now it is confirmed that McGregor is injured, fans are left wondering what the future holds for the Irishman. Former UFC champs Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman have shared their thoughts on the situation.
Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman Comments
Both fighters discussed the recent pullout on the Pound 4 Pound You Tube channel, giving their thoughts about the cancellation. Cejudo stated “Let me put it to you this way Kamaru, the fact that Conor McGregor has to pull out is actually a really good sign.”
“Now what do I mean by that is he’s probably killing a little bit of his ego and now he’s taking it a lot more seriously than ever”. It’s also an experience for him, so the way that I’m taking it too is that they’re going to fight, but he’s at that point where ‘I want to make sure I’m 100%, like this comeback to me is real”.
Usman appeared to share similar thoughts, and added: “there’s no such thing as 100%, as fighters we always go in there with bumps and bruises but obviously, you’re right”. For him to say ‘Imma sit for a little bit, I’m going to push this back, and just prepare myself a little bit more’, it does say a lot, I agree with you.”
McGregor Reacts to Pull Out
Amidst much speculation over the past few weeks, McGregor remained quiet and seemingly confident that the situation would not affect his return. However, he finally broke his silence after the announcement was first made by Dana White.
He stated:
“Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout, I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me.
“The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team.”
UFC 303 is how headlined by none other than Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka, in their second clash. This bout will have the light- heavyweight title on the line, with both fighters providing no hesitation to step in last minute.
