Max Holloway called out several fighters including Conor McGregor after his astounding KO win over Justin Gaethje.
UFC 300 was a card to remember with a stacked card that exceeded the already high expectations. No moment was more memorable than the BMF title fight between Max “Blessed” Holloway and Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje in which Holloway stole the show.
After a near-perfect performance, in vintage “Blessed” style, Max pointed to the centre of the octagon with 10 seconds on the clock in the final round. Gaethje agreed to a final throwdown, both exchanging wild blows until a right hook from Holloway left Justin out-cold with 1 second to go.
Conor McGregor Responds to Max Holloway’s BMF Call out Post UFC 300
An iconic finish like this was not complete without an equally emphatic post-fight speech, which Max also delivered:
“All I’ve got to say is I’m him, I’m him guys! There’s El Matador (Ilia Topuria) he’s running away from the bull, tell him sign the contract. Spain, Hawaii wherever. Even Islam [Makachev] he’s famous for defending against [Featherweights]. I’m him!”
After the octagon interview, he went on to call out one more opponent bound to catch the attention of fans and UFC matchmakers. A rematch against Conor McGregor for the BMF title:
“Conor McGregor considers himself a BMF. We got options”
Rematch in The Making?
“Notorious” Conor McGregor and Max Holloway fought first back in 2013 at the beginning of their UFC runs long before the fame. The Irish-man McGregor handily picked apart the then 21-year-old Holloway kickstarting his rise to the top.
11 years on the two have stamped their respective names in the company with McGregor being an international superstar and Holloway arguably the Featherweight GOAT. Given their history, the rematch and the BMF are just two reasons why this fight makes itself.
It would seem that Conor McGregor has responded to the call-out in a cryptic but suggestive tweet that acknowledges the possible matchup.
“Congrats Max!” accompanied by a wink emoji.
Their history and the implications of the BMF belt are just two reasons why this fight makes itself.
