Conor McGregor has been in the headlines recently for going after Gilbert Burns.
The former two division champion Conor McGregor replied to a recent video that Gilbert Burns showing Kamaru Usman hitting pads. As we now know, Usman agreed on short notice to fight Khamzat Chimaev after Paulo Costa was forced to pull out after having elbow surgery this past week. This fight will be the co main of UFC 294. Alexander Volkanovski will also be stepping in to rematch Islam Makhachev as Charles Oliveira got cut above his eye in which forced him to pull out of the main event.
Gilbert Burns is Kamaru Usman’s training partner and filmed a video of Usman hitting pads inside the cage at the gym. Shortly after news broke.
“Some crazy news yesterday but you know what, someone is getting ready. Some boy is getting ready. Look at these guys.” Gilbert Burns said in the video
McGregor seem to have something to say about that.
Conor McGregor Slams at Gilbert Burns
Conor McGregor has been side-lined since UFC 264 back in March when he fractured his tibia and fibula when facing Dustin Poirier the third time. McGregor coached the ultimate fighter alongside exciting lightweight Michael Chandler. Rumors are this fight will happen at welterweight. Looks like “The Notorious” tried to get fellow welterweight attention on X. McGregor replied to the aforementioned video with “the fat lesbian”. Gilbert Burns is Michael Chandler’s training partner which makes sense the attack towards Burns.
Meanwhile, officially Conor McGregor has entered the USADA pool and is eligible to fight in 6 months. This create a little fuss with the UFC and USADA and formed a divorce between the two. USADA sent out a statement and have revealed they will no longer be with the UFC starting in 2024.
“The relationship between USADA and UFC became untenable given the statements made by UFC leaders and others questioning USADA’s principled stance that McGregor not be allowed to fight without being in the testing pool for at least six months. One UFC commentator echoed this, recently declaring that USADA should not oversee the UFC program since we held firm to the six-month rule involving McGregor, and since we do not allow fighters without an approved medical basis to use performance-enhancing drugs like experimental, unapproved peptides or testosterone for healing or injuries simply to get back in the Octagon.”
