Conor McGregor has set his sights on his return to MMA… and he wants it within the first quarter of 2023.
It was only recently confirmed by Dana White following UFC 280 that McGregor is currently not in the USADA testing pool and would have to re-enter for six months before any potential fight could take place. However, that hasn’t deterred the former two-weight world champion from targeting an early return to the octagon. Conor mapped out his future plans to his fans during his Instagram live earlier today.
Conor McGregor on Comeback Timeframe
“I’m going to be back soon, hopefully. Early 2023 I’m aiming for. Sometime in that first quarter. That will give me a good couple of months now once I wrap this in a couple of days. Get the camp going, a good couple of months, and get going.”
Six months in the USADA testing pool makes the end of April the earliest it could happen. Whilst some speculate an exception is possible, it’s likely Dana wouldn’t be so specific if he didn’t believe Conor would have to go through the process, especially when it comes to the chaos that speculation around the name Conor McGregor brings.
Despite being ruled out for the majority of the past year due to the nasty leg break incident that occurred vs Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, McGregor hasn’t ever been far from talk of fighting. The opposite, actually. Often active on fight nights, he’s made zero secrets of his desire to be back in the mix. A return at any point next year now feels inevitable. Until then, though, McGregor is swapping the bright lights of the octagon for something a little different.
McGregor broadcasted whilst out in the Dominican Republic, where he’s currently near wrapping the filming of the remake of the blockbuster ‘Road House’ alongside A-lister Jake Gyllenhaal, & Daniela Melchior, a role that will mark the long-awaited debut of ‘The Notorious’ in Hollywood.
