Conor McGregor has posted multiple videos and images on his social media showing off his striking ability.
The former two-division champion is very active on social media but rarely shows himself back in the cage (or ring). The video entailed McGregor throwing a turning side kick followed by a heavy knee to the body. McGregor captioned the clip: “Turning side kick to the face followed by a jumping knee to the breadbasket.”
Whilst McGregor is known to tease returns or claim to want to fight people, the concrete proof of the athlete sharpening his skills will undoubtedly get fans excited.
McGregor Back in the Octagon?
Following back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021 the Irishman has been recovering from a broken fibula and tibia on his left leg. The freak accident forced McGregor to sit out on the sidelines for the rest of 2021 and the majority of 2022.
The chances of McGregor returning in 2022 seem to be very slim. It was reported that McGregor was the only athlete (signed before august) to not be tested by USADA. This came as a great shock to the MMA community. Many highlighted the physical transformation he had made since his time off.
The Irishman had not hidden the fact that whilst away from the Octagon he had put on a lot of muscle. Adding to the question of why the anti-doping agency hadn’t attempted to test the UFC fighter. The lack of testing may hint McGregor is not seeking to return to the UFC just yet.
What Does The Sparring Video Mean?
McGregor could be weighing up a return to the Octagon. With many of the roster desperate for the chance to fight him. Even the UFC lightweight champion Charles Olivera has said on multiple occasions he wants that fight. Connor on the other hand has claimed online he would fight the likes of Kamaru Usman when he was champion, Charles Olivera and Nate Diaz for a possible trilogy match.
With many of the lightweight and the welterweight division wanting to fight the 34-year-old, he has the pick of the draw and can choose who is worth his time these days.
Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor II?
The Floyd Mayweather vs Connor McGregor rematch is possibly going to happen. Although the UFC fighter has claimed he is ‘Not Interested’, it is still a genuine possibility. Both Mayweather and McGregor are big draws and therefore will generate a lot of money. McGregor alone made over $100m for their previous bout. Therefore, if the money is right, it will be hard for the MMA star to say no.
