Following his failed drugs tests Ryan Garcia has become a target for many boxing fans and athletes. The superstar tested positive for Ostarine in a pre-fight fight VADA drugs test a banned substance. Ostarine is known as a SARM and can help with muscle building and retention and is banned by VADA. Following this Conor McGregor a previous supporter of Ryan announced his disappointment in a now deleted tweet.
Conor McGregor was a supporter of Garcia for some time noticeably since the Garcia vs Tank Davis fight. McGregor was seen in Garcia’s changing room before and after the fight seemingly giving advice to the young star. Following the loss McGregor gave Garcia words of encouragement in person and social media. Futhermore, McGregor also expressed his support for Garcia after the Haney victory in a Tweet which has also been deleted.
Conor McGregor threatens Ryan Garcia Over Failed Drug Test
However, McGregors support for Garcia has seemingly stopped after Garcia’s failed test. McGregor took to Twitter to express his fury in a now deleted Tweet. in his tirade McGregor said he was “disgusted” and how it was “sad to see”. Both understandable positions given McGregors previously positive opinion and association with the young star. However, McGregor gradually got more extreme as is his way threatening to “bust yous both up” also referring to Sean O’Malley. O’Malley also earlier in his career tested positive for ostarine and served a suspension.
McGregor also called Garcia a “fool” and told him to “GET YOUR HEAD TOGETHER OR KILL YOURSELF”. A very strong reaction and also likely prompted him to delete the tweet. The anger is understandable but telling Ryan to commit suicide is a disproportionate reaction. What also makes it more dicey is Garcia’s mental state in the lead up to the Haney fight. Garcia and some fans claimed it was all an act but others aren’t fully convinced. Given the weight miss and other physical signs it seems reasonable to assume Ryan wasn’t 100% there mentally or physically. So telling him to commit suicide isn’t the best idea.
On a more wholesome note Conor did praise Haney. He told the Haney “fair play” and how his effort was “heroic” clearly sympathizing with him. This is also unsurprising as fighting someone on PEDS is not an enviable position. Especially when one fighter has had a history of never testing positive for a banned substance as is Haney’s position.
Regardless, the Tweet is now deleted and is another one to be added to the collection of McGregor’s deleted tweets.
