Last night, Conor McGregor gave his opinion of Jake Paul signing with the PFL in an immediately deleted tweet.
On Thursday, it was announced by both Jake and the organisation that he would fight in mixed martial arts.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer signed a multi-year contract with the company to compete in a new Super-Fight division, with the events to be shown live on Pay Per View.
The 25-year-old and Nasika Bidarian, his business partner, are founders of the new division and also own an equity share in the company.
In the new division, fighters earn at least 50% of the PPV revenue, with broadcasting rights going to ESPN and DAZN.
The revenue split is significantly higher than the UFC, the worlds leading MMA promotion – something that the Ohio native has advocated for many times.
Jake Paul PFL Announcement Video
In a video shared with his 20 million subscribers on YouTube, he said: “I’ve proven myself in and out of the boxing ring and now I am going to do the same in MMA.
“There is no limit to the positive impact I can make on the sport.
“I plan to enter the PFL SmartCage and once again show the world that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.”
Conor McGregor Weighs In
However, Conor McGregor doesn’t think it’s too clever that ‘The Problem Child’ is giving 50% of the PPV revenue away to fighters.
It comes as no surprise that the 34-year-old is taking shots at Paul, the pair have gone back and forth over social media for the last few years.
In a quickly deleted tweet, the former UFC two-weight champion said: “Numbnuts gave away 50% of a future purse if he does an mma bout? Wow. What an idiot. Joint partnership what? For what you Wally. Wally.”
