Back in February 2020, rumors of a super fight between Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao really stepped up a notch. McGregor’s management group, Paradigm Sports, announced the signing of the boxing legend. Paradigm made a payment of $3.3 Million to Pacquiao for signing with the firm. However, business soon turned sour. Pacquiao decided to walk away and negotiate his own fights. Paradigm also claimed that he had hidden a pre-existing management contract from them during negotiations.
What Caused A Legal Battle Between Manny Pacquiao and Paradigm Sports
After 2 years, a jury in Orange County finally came to a conclusion. The vote went 9-3 in favor of Paradigm Sports Management. Pacquiao now owes the firm potentially more than $8 million total according to Paradigm. Allegedly the court has ruled the boxer to repay the $3.3 million he was paid as well as an extra $1.8 million. Paradigm also claim that they are owed an additional 10% on the verdict due to the length of proceedings, as well as all legal fees which are around $2 million.
Conor McGregor Reaction
In typical McGregor fashion, the Irishman took to twitter to celebrate the victory of his management firm. The posts have now been deleted but Conor can be quoted as saying ‘And don’t let it happen again, @MannyPacquiao.’ He also stated, ‘ Legal fees are heavy but that’s what we do’. Conor then went on to talk about his other court case with former friend Artem Lobov.
It’s safe to say that McGregor has had a fairly busy week all in all, but I’m sure he will raise a glass of Proper No. 12 to this one.
Fans wait in anticipation for Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC octagon. The Irishman is set to face Michael Chandler after the pair acted as coaches in the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, due to launch this May. No date has been pencilled in.
