Cory Sandhagen has responded to ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley’s thoughts on his now cancelled fight with Umar Nurmagomedov.
UFC Fight Night Nashville Sandhagen vs Font is almost upon us and Cory Sandhagen has responded to Sean O’Malley’s opinion that the Umar Nurmagomedov didn’t make sense.
Sandhagen is coming off an impressive split decision victory over Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera and will want to make a statement against Font.
Cory has certainly fought the best the division has to offer including a title fight against Petr Yan at UFC 267, since that loss he’s put together a 2 fight win streak.
Cory Sandhagen Doesn’t See Sean O’Malley’s Point
Sandhagen spoke recently to Shaq MMA about Sean’s comments and had this to say:
“There are things about Sean O’Malley that I think are just like, super lame. Talking about things like, ‘You fight the worst guy for the most amount of money.’ Everything being like, business decisions. It’s like, I can’t connect with that type of thinking at all. “
“To me, those are ways of thinking that are just weak and they’re ways of thinking that are gonna trend into ruining the sport a little bit, in my opinion.”
Afterwards, he went on to question Seans’ own career and mindset on fighting:
“You should want to fight the best guy. If you’re here to be the actual world champion, that’s what we’re doing. I don’t see this as a business really… I make good money now, I’m good.”
“The greediness and the business decision things that happen in a lot of these ways of thinking are, to me, lame. I don’t think that passing on the message that you should fight the worst guy for the most amount of money — that is just such a weak way of thinking.”
