The highly anticipated Crawford Vs Madrimov card is finally at the doorstep. But before we go ahead with the fights we of course have the weigh ins. The weigh ins for this card were of particularly intriguing. This is mainly due to a few fighters on this card either moving up in weight classes or having issues surrounding fight weight. One of these persons of interest is one half of the main event Crawford who is moving up in weight.
The other persons of interest are Martin Bakole, Jarrell “Big Pharma” Miller, and Andy Ruiz. With Bakole the interest is what weight he would be as the man is a giant who recently has been carrying excessive weight. Bakole weighed in at almost 300lbs and not looking in exactly great shape granted it didn’t really hinder him. However, fighting a young athletic prospect like Anderson shedding some excess would be helpful. A weight I think would be optimum would be the low 270s or high 260s. But again Bakole has managed to carry the extra weight well.
Andy Ruiz is also a similar case to Bakole in carrying plenty of excess weight particularly with his short stocky frame. Last time out he weighed in 268lbs the same weight he was when he beat Anthony Joshua. Although pudgy Ruiz has still found success the weight not impacting his very fast hands. However, when he has been particularly heavy such as 280lbs + his stamina and feet were notably worse. And with being out for a few years Ruiz’s weight is a point of interest.
Jarrell Miller like the other two also carries substantial extra weight but is the most extreme. Miller weighed in 330lbs in his last fight an absolutely absurd weight. Despite that for the most part Miller has managed to carry the weight relatively well. However, in his last fight he did gas big time the weight being a big part. So, seeing if he’ll make a change will be interesting.
Weigh In Results
Ziyad Al Mayoof and Michal Bulik weighed in first for their welterweight contest. Ziyad weighed in at 144lbs and Bulik at 142.4lbs. Next to the scale was Marcos Ramon Vazquez and his opponent Steven Nelson for a super middleweight bout. Vasquez weighed in at 167.6lbs and Nelson the exact same weight. Cuban prospect and Olympic gold medallist Andy Cruz and his opponent Antonio Moran weighed in next for their lightweight bout for the international IBF belt. Moran weighed in at 134.8lbs and Cruz at 134lbs.
David Morrell made his debut at light heavyweight next on the scale against Radivoje Kalajdzic for the regular WBA belt. Kalajdzic weighed in at 174.4lbs and Morrell 174.8lbs. Morrell looked good at the new weight however we shall see how he performs in the ring. Martin Bakole and Jared Anderson were up next for their heavyweight bout. Bakole weighed in at 284.4lbs and Anderson 252.4lbs. So, Bakole has trimmed off a good few pounds he could have gone lighter but it’s not awful. The weight difference should also be mentioned with Anderson being a lot lighter than Bakole.
Next to the scale was Andy Ruiz and Jarrell Miller. Miller weighed in at 305.6lbs and Ruiz 274.4lbs. Miller for the better has trimmed down since his last fight and Ruiz has gone the opposite way and went up however not by much. Losing some of the extra weight should help Miller’s gas tank and allow him to try to successfully try to apply his pressure heavy style. Jose Valenzuela and Super WBA super lightweight champ Isaac Cruz were up next. Valenzuela weighed in at 139.8lbs and Cruz 140lbs.
The headliners finally weighed in for their super welterweight title clash. Madrimov weighed in at 154lbs and Crawford 153.4lbs. Crawford looked great at the weight appearing more filled out and not too far off Madrimov. This card will certainly be a great one and we’ll look forward to seeing it play out tonight.
