Silva manager, Alex Davis went and told MMA Fighting;
Scheduled to compete at Bellator’s London event, Silva suffered kidney failure from severe dehydration, which necessitated the coma as doctors closely monitored her condition. After spending weeks in the hospital, Silva has not only regained consciousness but has also been discharged and is now back in Brazil continuing her recovery.
“The initial prognosis was grim, suggesting she might require dialysis for life and take months to regain consciousness,”
“But thanks to her excellent physical condition, constant care from her close friend, incredible support from Bellator, her trainer Cristiano Marcello, and dedicated medical professionals, she defied the odds.”
Davis then continued and provided an encouraging update, stating that Silva is now walking and talking and is also off dialysis. Davis said this when he said;
“She’s in a rehabilitation center in Brazil, and we’re optimistic about her achieving a full recovery,”
This incident initially left Daiana Silva’s condition shrouded in privacy. Bellator officials refrained from commenting, citing the importance of respecting her medical confidentiality. PFL co-founder Donn Davis, then later addressed the matter, Davis explained;
“This is her personal story, and our focus was on ensuring her recovery. It’s not our place to disclose private medical details.”
Silva currently boasts a 3-0 professional record, went and signed with Bellator for a short-notice featherweight fight against Eman Almudhaf in London. This fight meant Silva was transitioning from lightweight to featherweight which required a gruelling weight cut. This meant pushing Silva to the brink of her physical limits.
While Silva is now out of immediate danger, her primary focus remains on rehabilitation. There is no timeline for her potential return to the cage. For now, her remarkable recovery stands as a testament to her resilience and the unwavering support for those around her.
