Dakota Ditcheva took another significant step in her career this Saturday in Newcastle after attaining her first professional submission victory over Malin Hermansson.
Dakota entered the fight with a squeaky-clean undefeated record. However, having a co-main event slot in her home nation, she revealed she felt the pressure, which clearly makes diamonds. Hermansson came into the flyweight bout after three straight losses and was finished in just one of those.
The bout started with both women downloading data and feeling one another out. Dakota lands first with a hard inside low kick and continues putting pressure on Hermansson while switching stances. The Brit initiated the clinch against the fence and continued to land knees from a dominating position. An opportunity to take the fight to the mat presented itself, and Dakota took it with open arms.

She advances position on the mat and looks to set up a submission. With the referee telling her to “work,” Dakota adjusts, which allows Hermansson to scramble. However, the scramble works in Dakota’s favor and allows her to latch on to a rear-naked choke and become the only women’s flyweight of the night to gain a stoppage victory.
