UK MMA legend Dan Hardy returns to combat against UFC veteran Diego Sanchez in the boxing ring. The bout will take place on the undercard of the return of Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton as he takes on Marco Antonio Barrera on July 2nd.
The Outlaw Returns
Former UFC Veterans Dan Hardy and Diego Sanchez Collide
It will be a decade since he last competed when “The Outlaw” takes on Sanchez. He has been linked to numerous bouts over the years, all failing to materialise for one reason or another. Following his parting of ways with the UFC, though, the path was suddenly unobstructed. Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome was the original reason for Dan Hardy’s retirement. However, he has never had any problems with the condition and says he is safe to compete.
Diego Sanchez comes into the bout following an admirable, albeit losing, effort against Kevin Lee. Though, he has been far more active than Hardy and could provide a stern test for the hearty Nottingham-born striker.
Hardy last fought Amir Sadollah in a winning effort in 2012, a final flawless year in which he also knocked out striking extraordinaire Duane Ludwig. Perhaps most fondly remembered as a man who refused to quit after Georges St-Pierre repeatedly came close to amputating Hardy by armbar.
Since then, he has given expert insight on his Youtube channel and numerous outlets across the globe.
“The Outlaw”, at his best, is a tough customer for anyone. He is definitely the more well-versed striker in the matchup and will be hoping to once again show why he was once the UK golden boy of MMA.
