IShowSpeed’s sparring session with UFC star Dan Hooker didn’t quite go as planned. This was after the veteran fighter was able to repeatedly drop the streamer during their time in the cage.
World travel has become a defining feature of Speed’s streaming content in 2024. This is after exploring Europe and Southern Asia. This YouTube star has since taken his adventures over to Oceania. Following a few eventual days in Australia where he was able to test himself against a few local athletes IShowSpeed is now in New Zealand. IShowSpeed has continued his streak of bold challenges. His latest stop? This was at City Kickboxing, which is the island’s premier MMA gym, where he found himself face-down on the mat after stepping into the cage.
City Kickboxing is the home to some of the biggest names in the MMA industry. This has included former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and former Interim flyweight title challenger Kai Kara-France. Among its top-tier athletes is Dan “The Hangman” Hooker, who is one of the gym’s most seasoned and skilled fighters. That’s exactly who IShowSpeed faced when the cage door shut. This set the stage for a sparring session he won’t soon forget.
Dan Hooker Pummels IShowSpeed
A live-streamed clip on Speed’s YouTube channel captured all the action, which showcased Hooker’s dominance. Before stepping into the cage, Speed set some ground rules, banning kicks and submissions. However, after a few moments of standing opposite Dan Hooker, he called for another adjustment. This was swapping MMA gloves for larger boxing gloves. Unfortunately for Speed, the changes that were made didn’t change anything. Dan Hooker is a UFC veteran with 22 UFC fights under his belt and put on a clinic, landing punches from all angles and dropping Speed multiple times and even triumphing in a 2-on-1 scenario when Spped enlisted a partner for help.
After the sparring session, Dan Hooker gave credit where it was due, praising Speed for having “Balls of Steel.”
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for IShowSpeed who, alongside being one of the world’s most prominent Youtubers, has a penchant for challenging professional athletes at their own game. Not long ago, he gave Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles a run for his money in a 50-meter dash.
