Dan Ige bounces back with a huge knockout win over Damon Jackson in the second round at UFC Strickland Vs Imavov.
A fast start sees Damon Jackson look to end it early throwing a wild combination. Dan Ige keeps his guard high and responds with his own offence that causes Jackson to hit the mat, but only briefly. The pace slows as each man looks to find a more steady rhythm. A strike to the eye halts the action. As soon as the fight resumes they’re back to throwing bombs. Ige is heavy on the pressure as Jackson circles. Dan ends the round with a takedown.
Jackson’s corner makes it clear he should avoid being against the fence. He’s listened and begins to circle away from it. Jackson looks for a head kick but Dan blocks with ease. Keeping the pressure Dan is still on the front foot and has opened a cut on Damon’s head. Jackson begins to press forward and they exchange in the pocket.
Dan Ige remains patient, keeps the pressure on and forces Jackson to open up before landing a huge knockout left hook.
What’s Next?
Breaking his three-fight skid, Dan Ige moves back into the sun column in style. Ranked #13 before this bout he’ll keep and improve on that number next time out.
Proving once again that he’s ranked at Featherweight for a reason. Dan put in a showcase in his win in the co-main event slot. Seemingly always fighting down, with a win he’s earned a higher-ranked opponent.
Looking at the rankings they’re plenty of options next for “50k”. Giga Chikadze, Bryce Mitchell and Sodiq Yusuff would all make for bangers and make sense rankings-wise.
What do you think makes sense for Dan Ige going forward?
