Millions of people around the globe tuned in to Netflix last Friday. This was to watch Jake Paul face off against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. Jake Paul was able to get the decision victory and Dana White has admitted he was wrong about the fight.
Dana White Admits He Was Wrong
UFC president Dana White called out the Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul ahead of his fight against Mike Tyson. This was because Dana White was suggesting Jake Paul only wanted to fight Mike Tyson because he knew he would win against a nearly 60-year-old Tyson. Dana White suggested this when he said;
“He is fighting a guy who is almost 60 years old,”
“That says it all. There is nothing else that needs to be said. Him and Mike Tyson are gonna make a [expletive] load of money…Jake Paul can fight….Jake Paul just won’t fight anybody.”
In the end, Dana White was correct in that Jake Paul won the fight. It was reported that 60 million households, according to Netflix, tuned in to watch a gassed Mike Tyson fail to land any punches of note while Jake Paul jabbed his way to a decisive win in the eye of the judges. This was due to the judges, scoring the fight 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 for Jake Paul. While Jake Paul was able to get the victory, Dana White was wrong about one thing. He thought Mike Tyson would suffer a loss before the eight rounds were up. After UFC 309, Dana White spoke with reporters and admitted Mike Tyson told him the youngster.
“wouldn’t do [expletive] to him” – and he was right. “You saw him, he tripped when he was walking down the [aisle], he had a hard time walking up the stairs,” Dana White said, via Bleacher Report.
“He had a knee brace on and Jake Paul couldn’t do anything to him.”
“He made a ton of money and I know people are mad you stayed home on a Saturday night but you didn’t pay for it. When Mike Tyson shows up, everybody makes money. I don’t have to tell you guys. You guys know. Mike Tyson is the A++++ side of that thing. He was right. Jake Paul couldn’t do [expletive] to him. He was right and I was wrong.”
