Dana White has broken some major news in the MMA world. He has announced three major title fights. The first one is Leon Edwards versus Colby Covington. In addition to this, he said that Jiri Procházka versus Alex Pereira is happening at UFC 295. The final fight was a third fight between Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Moreno. All of these fights will happen before the end of 2023, so we haven’t long to wait until we see these fighters square off.
Dana White Announces Leon Edwards Vs Colby Covington At UFC 296
A fight between Edwards and Covington has been a long time in the making, as they are both big names in the welterweight division. Edwards won the title after beating long-time champion Kamaru Usman with an iconic head kick. Furthermore, he was victorious over the Nigerian fighter by decision in the rematch. Covington was a backup for the rematch in London, which ultimately earned him this shot at the title. The American competitor is coming off a win against Jorge Masvidal in which he dominated the contest. When looking at how the fight can play out, it is a clash of styles, as Covington has an excellent wrestling pedigree. Whereas Edwards has sensational stand-up, if the fight stays on the feet, then Edwards is likely to be the victor. However, Covington should be at an advantage if the contest hits the ground. The bout has had a lot of hype around it for a long time, and it would be great to see them collide at UFC 296.
Jiri Procházka Vs Alex Pereira At UFC 295
Dana White also announced a massive clash for the vacant light heavyweight title between Procházka and Pereira. Jamahal Hill vacated the belt after the former champion ruptured his Achilles tendon. Procházka is coming off an injury that forced him to give up the title. His last fight was a ferocious battle with Glover Teixeria, which saw him submit the Brazilian fighter. Pereira is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Jan Błachowicz, which saw the Brazilian fighter announce himself as a top contender in the light heavyweight division. Looking at how the fight could play out, they are both incredible strikers, which means it is hard to see the fight hitting the ground. It will be a fantastic, striking display, which many fans are excited to see.
Alexandre Pantoja Vs Brandon Moreno At UFC 296
The final fight White announced was a trilogy bout between Pantoja and Moreno. The two fighters first met on a season of the Ultimate Fighter. Fast forward a few years, and they were competing for the title; Pantoja has gotten the best of Moreno every time they have competed against each other. The last fight was incredibly competitive, and it left fans wanting more of them on big cards. Both fighters are very well-rounded, making it difficult to separate them. It will be great to see them square off again, and with a Moreno fight, it will be entertaining.
It will be a great end of the year for the UFC, with many great fights.
