UK Fans, Your Wish Has Been Granted
Dana White has confirmed UFC will take place in London in March via the Chatting Pony podcast. Leon Edwards will defend his title against Kamaru Usman in the main event in one of the biggest trilogy bouts in the history of the sport.
The general consensus has been that the UFC UK Card will take place in Cardiff in March. Dana White openly wants to do a stadium with a roof, and the Principality Stadium in Wales is one of the best options to do so.
The WWE Clash at the Castle took place at the Principality with the closed roof, and MMA fans around the country were ecstatic to see how it would look with the famous Octagon in the middle.
Dana White, however, has now confirmed the event will be in London.
UFC London Over UFC Cardiff
The UFC’s choice to move the event to London leaves a few things open in the air regarding the event.
Leon Edwards wants a stadium. Dana wants a stadium. Everybody wants a stadium.
UK UFC events mostly take place at the O2 Arena – recently, the capacity is shown not to be enough, and a big PPV in the capital will reflect this.
Speculatively, the two front runners would be the famous Wembley Arena, or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Both have hosted Boxing events in the past and would hold up to the demand that the massive bout between Edwards and Usman would bring.
With a Cage Warriors event on the 17th March, and Cage Warriors tending to take place a night before, March 18th would be a date to mark on your calendar. Cage Warriors has taken place before the last few UFC London events.
Be sure to expect some familiar UK names on that card as well. Paddy Pimblett fights this weekend, and with the name value he holds, he’ll be sure to appear in March if everything goes swimmingly.
All in all, a UFC of this magnitude in the UK is always exciting, and Leon and Usman are sure to bring the fireworks.
