UFC president Dana White has shared his opinions on the 5 greatest UFC fighters of all time. The “greatest of all time” conversation is a nuanced one, but the topic is continuously raised among fans, fighters and anyone else involved with combat sports. White has seen countless athletes come and go while he has been UFC president, but he recently opened up about who he thinks should be in the conversation.
Dana White Talks 5 Greatest Fighters
White joined boxing legend Mike Tyson on his podcast ‘Hotboxin’‘ and was asked about his top 5 fighters of all time. “It’s so hard to do because when you look at the 23 years that I’ve been in it, there’s been so many great fighters. But you gotta start with Jon Jones,” he said.
“You gotta have Ronda Rousey, you know what I mean? You gotta have Amanda Nunes, greatest female fighter of all time,” White continued. There’s just so many, it’s hard to pick five. Kamaru Usman has got to be in there, Chuck Liddell in his time. Royce [Gracie] in his era and in his time, it’s hard to just pick five. If you look at the different generations, they took the sport to another level. Matt Hughes would have to make the list. there’s so many people, it’s tough to pick.”

The GOAT Debate
There are many factors to consider when discussing the greatest ever UFC fighters. Title wins/defences, win streaks, resume, style, technique and longevity to name a few. It’s almost impossible to come to a concrete decision in the debate, and it is considered a moot point by some anyway. What can be agreed on however, is there are multiple names that deserve to be thrown into the hat. Even if you are set on your “GOAT” it’s likely you can respect an argument for another fighter.
