An event that will go down in history for multiple reasons. The first ten fights of the night all ended in finishes. A huge pay-per-view card and to say it delivered would be fair. Dana White agreed and gave out ten bonuses.
Two controversial decisions saw the card concluded, however, this shouldn’t mar the brilliant ten fights we had to open the event.
In the post-fight media scrum, Dana White said that the Middleweight contest between Darren Till and Dricus du Plessis earned fight of the night honours. When moving into the customary performance bonuses where he usually gives two, he has this to say.
“Performance of the night. Since it’s the holidays, I’m in a good mood. I gave everybody who got a finish fifty thousand dollars. There’s a lot of them.”
This was met by applause from all in attendance at the scrum.
Dana was also questioned about his in-cage chat with Alex Morono. Alex stepped in on five days’ notice to face a killer in Santiago Ponzinibbio, and lost in the third round via KO after winning the first two rounds.
When asked what he was talking to Alex about he said this.
“Yeah, I just had so much respect for him [Alex Morono] he took the fight on short notice. [He] Was winning the fight going into the third round. He rocked Ponzinibbio”.
“Morono fought like a stud.” “Nothing but respect for both guys. We gave Morono his win money too.”
Praising both fighters in the answer, he did indeed confirm he gave Alex Morono his win money as well as show money.
